"I can't believe the difference changing my diet has made to how I feel. I no longer have that bloated feeling after foods I've also lost 13lb in 2 months without ever feeling hungry. Thank you Maev Creaven!"(M.K.)

I have found my consultations with Maev to be extremely beneficial. She was able to pinpoint trigger foods which led to me being able to almost completely stop taking a proton pump inhibitor that I had previously needed to take daily. I have also found that I no longer suffer with eczema out breaks since starting the supplement plan she recommended. As well as being extremely professional she is easy to talk to and explains things in a really thorough and clear way. (B. Kennedy)

"Maev made the cookery class fun yet information. I have tried out many of the recipes on my family and we all love them. Maev is very knowledgable about foods and their health benefits. I highly recommend spending an afternoon cooking with Maev.(L.H.)

Avoid the Pounds this Christmas

Avoiding Christmas weight gain is to resolve to make smarter choices, rather than just depriving yourself. Consider these healthy eating tips:

1. If you are eating out,  choose the restaurants that serve the healthier dishes :
fresh fish, tasty salads etc.

2. Choose fibre-rich fruits and vegetables for your starter course, eat high-calorie-foods
sparingly and avoid dishes high in sugar and sodium.

3. Be mindful of what you eat. To help prevent overindulging  – stomach-ache, bloating and other gastrointestinal discomfort, eat slowly, try putting your fork down inbetween bites, and stop when you are feeling full. Its takes 20mins for the stonach to signal to the brain that its full.

4. Don’t starve yourself all day to justify eating more at dinner. Keep your blood sugar levels balanced by eating smaller meals/ snacks during the day which can ward off the temptation to overindulge later in the day.

5. Savour your foods. Choose foods that you really love to eat. Eating slowly not only allows you to enjoy and be thankful for your food but helps prevent over eating.

6. Avoid eating bread before your starter. If peckish, nibble on olives / almonds instead.

7. Go for a walk once your meal is over to help digest your food and think about what a wonderful experience you just had – and the company and conversations that contributed to making it an enjoyable experience

8. Follow the 80:20 rule. Eat well 80% of the time and enjoy a ‘cheat meal’ once a week.

9. If you are going to overindulge that night with either heavy foods or wines, be smart and keep alkaline during the day. We gain weight when are blood PH is acidic. More to come on how to keep alkaline for weight loss.

10. Lastly, if you succumb to eating a dessert, enjoy every mouthful! Guilt is wasted energy, increases our cortisol levels which is stored as fat near adrenals (waist)!
